Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, Papilio glaucus, oomph

This is another of my favorite photos. Favorite critters, too: The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. They’re all over here during the summer, brightening up the place just as much as the flowers. This first photo is adjusted a little for contrast and sharpness, but they really are that absurdly colorful in person, even when in the shade, as you can see in the un-adjusted sideshot below. Truly an example of God’s over-the-top penchant for beauty.
